My Summer with Jupiter Compass: From a Marketing Intern
Hi! My name is Natalie First, and I was born and raised in beautiful Stuart, Florida. Being on the water is my favorite place to be; whether that’s sunbathing at the beach, riding around the inlet on the boat, or snorkeling at the sandbar. If I’m not in one of those places, in my free time, you can find me lifting weights at the gym, cooking a new recipe, or catching up on trashy reality TV.
After getting into some psychology podcasts, I became fascinated by the brain. So, I completed my Associate’s Degree in General Psychology from Indian River State College in 2020, shortly after graduating high school. I then transferred to Florida State University, where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in 2023 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Communications. But it doesn’t end there; I decided to continue with school and pursue a Master’s Degree from FSU in Integrated Marketing Communications, which I am expected to receive in December of this year (then I am done, I promise). During my first and second semesters of my Master’s program, I worked for the school as a teaching assistant and lab instructor for a class called Fundamentals of Public Speaking (which, coming from someone who is not the biggest fan of public speaking, was quite ironic). I am the first in my family to finish college, so my education has been something that I have worked tirelessly on, and something that I really feel proud of.
As I reach the last stretch of my Master’s program through online learning, I have had the pleasure of working with Paul and Kelly at Jupiter Compass this summer through a marketing internship. During my internship, I have dipped my toes into many different areas, which have been incredibly helpful in finding clear direction for my future career. I have learned how to work a camera and attended photoshoots (my favorite), events, and video shoots for clients, as well as edited using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I have written blog posts, learned how to use email marketing platforms, cultivated social media posts, created designs on Canva, sat in on meetings with clients, and learned how to schedule and manage social media postings.
As my internship comes to a close, I am so grateful to have worked for a company like Jupiter Compass. The hands-on experience and mentorship from Paul and Kelly have been so valuable. Not only have I gained technical skills in photography, photo editing, and design, but I have also developed a deeper understanding of strategic marketing and client relations that I will carry with me forever.
Thank you, Jupiter Compass, for an unforgettable summer and for helping me take a significant step toward my professional aspirations. I am excited to see where this journey will take me next!
